Global Indigenous Youth Caucus Preparatory Meeting 

on the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples in 2014 (WCIP 2014)

Dear friends and colleagues,

 

This is to inform you that the Global Indigenous Youth Caucus Preparatory Meeting on the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples in 2014 (WCIP 2014) is scheduled to take place in Inari, Finland on April 9-11, 2013. The Suoma Sami Nuorat (Finnish Saami Youth Organization) will host this meeting.  We sincerely apologize for the late announcement due to the unclear status of available funding.

This is an open meeting to Indigenous youth representatives in the world interested to participate in this meeting. Indigenous youth (age between 18-35) from the world who meet the following criteria should register to participate:

1.    Indigenous youth who are supported by or representing an Indigenous organization, institution or community.

2.    Indigenous youth who have experiences and expertise and capacity advocating Indigenous Peoples rights at regional, national and local levels.

3.    Indigenous youth who have experience, expertise and capacity within the United Nations system advocating Indigenous Peoples rights.

4.    Indigenous youth who have adequate knowledge on international human rights instruments.

5.    Indigenous youth, organizations and institutions who are planning on attending any of the future meetings including:

-       The Global Preparatory Indigenous Peoples’ Conference on the WCIP2014, Alta, Norway, June 2013

-       Proposed Informal Interactive Hearing, New York, June/July 2013    

-       The World Conference on Indigenous Peoples, New York, September 2014.

 

Unfortunately, the funds needed for this meeting is very limited. We encourage Indigenous youth representatives to raise their funds to enable them to participate in this important meeting.
